first_img Facebook Twitter: @NeosKosmos Instagram The Greek Festival of Sydney will benefit from $400,000 over four years if the Liberals & Nationals Government are re-elected.Minister for Multiculturalism Ray Williams said he was delighted to support the event attended by more than 200,000 people every year.“The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is continuing to support the Greek Festival of Sydney, now in its 37th year,” Mr Williams said.“The festival’s achievements are a recognition of the hard work and sacrifices made by the Greek Orthodox community of NSW, which is now the oldest and largest organised Greek community in our country.”“This funding will also assist Greek Australians to share their culture with the broader NSW community and pass on traditions to younger generations.”Member for Oatley Mark Coure MP said the funding demonstrated the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government’s commitment to supporting multicultural communities.READ MORE: Greek Community is pleased with the funding announcement of the Liberals & Nationals Government“This funding will ensure there is a strong future for the Greek Festival of Sydney and the event will benefit small businesses and the local tourism economy,” Mr Coure said.“For many years my community have enjoyed attending different festival events across an eight-week program. We are lucky to enjoy such a world-class event at our doorsteps, with the Festival leading the way as one of Australia’s top cultural festivals.”Greek Orthodox Community of NSW President Harry Danalis welcomed the funding announcement.“This is great news for the Greek community. The funding will also support us to attract interest from artists and performers from Australia and around the world,” Mr Danalis said.Over the last year, the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government has already provided more than $23 million to multicultural communities.last_img
