Fort Vancouver High wins honors for recycling

first_imgVANCOUVER — Clark County’s first high school to earn certification for increased recycling and food-waste composting will be honored Tuesday.Officials from Clark County Environmental Services, which oversees efforts, will award Fort Vancouver High School with Level 1 Washington Green School certification. A ceremony takes place at 2:30 p.m. at the school, 5700 E. 18th St.The tribute follows the creation of a student-staff-faculty Green Team that assessed the campus and found opportunities to eliminate waste. A recent audit found minimal amounts of paper, bottles or cans in the school’s garbage.Fort Vancouver is the 19th school in Washington to earn Level 1 status; two elementary schools in Clark County have previously qualified.
