Stay on target Cool Gifts for ‘Final Fantasy’ LoversGEEK PICK: Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD Over the weekend, Square-Enix and Nvidia announced a PC port of Final Fantasy XV. This will make the game available on three distinct platforms (PC, PS4, and Xbox One). There’s even a mobile version in the works. But what about the Nintendo Switch? If the game director’s not-so-subtle hints are what we think they are, Final Fantasy could be headed to Nintendo’s system eventually.During a livestream from the Twitch booth at Gamescom, game director Hajime Tabata talked about upcoming projects. This included the aforementioned PC and mobile versions of FFXV. While speaking about those games, he teased something Switch owners should find very interesting.”“We can’t give you any complete, solid details right at the moment,” said Hibata, “but we very much do want to move out and do as much as we can with the game and the franchise. There’s another certain console out there people may be thinking of. It sounds a little bit like… Twitch.”I wonder what he could be referring to. There’s more.“Everyone on the FFXV team loves this specific console that sounds a lot like Twitch, so you may want to think about something like that in the future.”This man isn’t even trying to hide the fact his team is working on Final Fantasy XV for Switch. He’s certainly not talking about an Ouya port. Now, as Kotaku points out, FFXV on Switch doesn’t mean it’s going to be the same game we all know. Like the mobile FFXV, it’s possible this is something entirely different. FFXV is becoming its own franchise of sorts, so this Switch game could just be a spin-off.Given the Switch’s ongoing popularity, it makes total sense Square-Enix would want to have something FFXV-related on the system. We don’t know what form it’ll take. It could just be a port of the mobile game. Whatever this turns out to be, we can say that Final Fantasy will be headed to Switch in the future.Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey.
